Exhibit Entry times
Exhibits must be entered on Thursday, September 26, 2024 between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm at
Chilhowie Old High School. The only exception is the entry of the flower show exhibits which may
be entered between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on Friday, September 27, 2024.

Flower Show General Rules
- 1. Entries may be placed from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 26 and between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on Friday, September 27. Judging begins at 10:00 am. Entries brought in after the time designated will be placed, but NOT FOR COMPETITION.
- 2. The Flower Show Committee will take all possible care, but cannot be responsible for loss or damage of the property of the exhibitor.
- 3. Virginia State Conservation plant material will not be permitted unless grown by the exhibitor and so stated on a display card.
- 4. Only authorized personnel may remain on the floor during judging. Decisions of the judges are final.
- 5. Artificial flowers, fruits, or foliage are prohibited in all divisions.
- 6. Only one entry per class may be made by an exhibitor in all divisions.
- 7. The schedule of the Apple Festival is the law of the show.
- 8. All exhibits must remain in place until 4:00pm Sunday, September 29.
Horticulture Rules
- 1. All classes are open to any amateur grower.
- 2. All Horticulture entries must have been grown by the exhibitor. Potted plants must be owned
for 90 days prior to the show.
- 3. Containers of clear glass / plastic must be used for cut specimens. Stems of the exhibit must be
visible with no foliage below the water line.
- 4. Labeled horticulture specimens will be given preference in judging.
- 5. Container grown plants may be double potted.
- 6. One blue ribbon will be given per class, if merited.
- 7. A specimen is one plant, one bloom, one spike, or one spray.
Design Rules
- All classes are open to any amateur designer.
- All exhibits must contain some plant material, fresh and/or dried as specified in the schedule.
- Fresh plant material may never be treated.
